Hi,

I am a Quantity Surveyor having 18 years of experience. Recently I got an offer from a Qatar Public Work Department for an interview. I would like to know what is the level of salary and benefits that I should get.

Thank you.

Dear Sir/Mam, Firstly are you PQS or Contractors QS? Depending on which one you are then this will have a major impact on your life in the middle east. Working for a contractor you will probably work 10-12 hours a day 6 days a week, however the PQS firms have a typical working day of 8 hours 5 days a week. Either way for a european company the below would be the same for both. For a local company i think the hours are much less, not sure about the salaries for local company though I take it you are not MRICS?European companies would be giving in or around-Housing salary 12,000-18,000 QR/Month.with all bills paid for.Car Allowance 2000 - 2500/month2 Flights a yearSchool Fees Paid for KidsSalary approx 6,000-8,000/month. If you are not getting the lower end of those scales it wont be worth it. Qatar is expensive and there is not much to do. A good apartment/villa with pool and good amenities is essential. such as http://www.facebook.com/pages/Beverly-Hills-Al-Rayyan/206059542737439?sk=photos\ Hope this helps
