Salary for someone with Consulting background

Hi everybody,

I am currently in the last interview stages for position with a quite special task frame: basically I would work for a private person who undertakes a lot of investment efforts at the moment and for this works with major consultancies/banks etc. This person basically wants someone to filter all the recommendations for him and kind of "summarize" them, also to attend meetings with him and travel for that etc.

I have about 3years experience in Consulting, a strong academic background (including a postgrad degree from a top 3 British University)and am trilingual. I would move to Qatar alone and am not really very demanding as far as flat/car etc is concerned, but would of course like a decent standard- so my question is basically:

What kind of salary should I push for, or at least a limit below of which I shouldn't settle for?

Thanks a lot!!!!

Lisa,

Is there a specific job title for this specific position yet? consultant? Assistant? you could resort to our salaries section on bayt.com to find out approximately what the salary range would be for your specific job in Qatar (or a similar job): http://www.bayt.com/salaries . Just bear in mind accommodation, transportation and day to day expenses should be taken into consideration when you re negotiating for your salary- also annual ticket to your homecountry , performance appraisal schemes, annual bonuses schemes, annual vacation days, etc.. make sure you have a clear and written confirmation regarding all the above.

hope this helps - Good luck!!

I think the post deserve salary near abt 7k o 10k.

Mr, Saeed Khan in india petrol is abt 5Qr per ltr. i think 1 QR is still cheeper, specially when you get quality petrol.

OK,

First time Middle East? 15k plus Accom + Car should do you as a European. If you are already earning more than that, stay where you are, but I can't see much more on the table for you.

Trilingual? English French German? Unless one of those languages is Arabic, I wouldn't shout too loud about the fact.

Saeed, Petrol is NOT expensive here.

Its as Baldrick says.

Look at it objectively.

You "only" have three years experience. Your role will be more of a clerical / advisory nature.

So, look at what you are earning now. Add 30% and go for it.. (Remember that you'll be saving tax also)

Good luck..

I guess I made clear what I'll be doing- I won't consult him on his investments etc- he'll have major consultancies working for him to do that. What I will do is basically summarize their results back to him- so my performance is not at all related to his success. I'd appreciate a serious comment please!

A consultant should be responsible for his consultations. No performance, no pay!

Haha, that means you're gonna drive him into the ground. Don't you have any confidence in what you are doing?
