senior consultant
offered a job at EY as a senior consultant. have 5 years experience in a canadian bank and also am a CFA
salary 15,100 QAR
accom 6,000 QAR
car allowance 900 QAR
what are peoples thoughts? i was hoping for a 25K package, slightly dissapointed with 22K.. do you guys think its decent?
currently make around the 22K mark but taxed at 40%
I forgot to mention utilities. Many companies pay the utilities on their employees' accomodations. Otherwise they are very high.

As I said before, the taxes in Qatar are just hidden. So you need to have other compelling reasons for coming.

Still bad, unless it gives you a significant boost to your career.
actually i should have mentioned that I earn around 22K gross here so net it is around 14K. i am going up from 14K to 22K net.
benefits are tickets to canada once a year and medical insurance.
Way to low,
for senior consultant minimum
Basic salary should be arround 25000
housing min 10,000
transport : 1800
health insurance and other perks ??
The savings are ephemeral. In Qatar there is no public transportation, no retirement, no pension, no health care that can be applied out of the country, no unemployment compensation. The food and housing are VERY high - no let me correct myself - the food is high, the housing is astronomical! Air transportation is quite expensive. Auto insurance is expensive, and covers very little anyway. Entertainment is exorbitant. You could try to economize but you would end up pretty cramped and miserable. Gene is right, there are new adventures but they come at a cost.
Mandi
Maybe low but think about the savings that you will have as compared to working in your own country.
New experience, new roads to travels, crowds to meet... The choice is all yours.
Good Luck
Pretty poor
The general rule is a competitive salary in your field at home plus 25% PLUS housing, transportation, etc. You're coming up short by quite a bit.
