Transferring money home- good forex rate?

Does anyone know how to get the best foreign exchange rate to transfer money from QAR back home?

Currently if I transfer through the bank (HSBC) when the official exchange rate is AU$ = 3.09 QAR they give me a rate of 3.16 on the transfer.

There must be a better way to do it...

The rates are more or less the same ...the trick is to send when the rate is good & not to send when the rate is bad.

Today the rate is a little better that what it was 2 days ago.

You must keep tracking. Indians will get a good rate from this sat to next sat. After that cant say.

across the Nissan showroom.. Their QR to Phil Peso rate is fair enough, and can do door to door or bank to bank transfer for about 15 - 17 QR no matter the amount and money arrives 1 to 3 days usually.. =)

Aha!! I've found a company that has offered me a suspiciously good rate, its www.worldfirst.com if anyone else is interested. Or maybe you should wait and I'll let you know if my money comes back first.

Don't ever transfer money through the banks, their rates are always higher than the exchange companies. Lari exchange (Tel: 4419010) gives the best rate for our currency (Indian Rupees), check with them you can ask for better rate if the amount is big.
