working for government - 5000usd?

Hi guys
i just received an offer from a QA Gov. body - and it is 5000 USD plus usual benefits - housing allowance, car allowance, ensurances, etc.

For me it seems bot be enough to move in DOha and actually live and still keeping a part of the payment for going back home...

So pls. advise, if anyone could share with me if 5000 USD is ok for a executive manager position - in a gov. institution. I have experience and all.

i need to make the move, withdraw or accept... how do you feel it?

Why 5000 $ US Dolars per month salary (equivalent to 18200 Qatari Riyal) is too low if housing and car allowing are provided as extra?

5KUSD, is way to low. You wil not be able to live here and pay for obligations at home -trust me, this is way to low.

You should earn at least 8K-12K + benefits

wish u all the best on your final interview. since your're a bachelor, i think you can save a little more before settling down. who knows you might even find your better half here in doha. just look at the cons and pros before making the final decision. there's no place like home but the window of oppurtunity knocks only once and it's very seldom that oppurtunity knocks twice :-)

Thanks man, i will come in DOha next week-end for the final interview, did not make my mind yet... perhaps there will be some time for a drink

It seems quite little payment for me taking in account that it is not a regular company, but Government institution and it is management activity, with me as expert :) ..i'm earning half of this money in my country and have no stress about it here...

don't have kids yet.

5000USD is fair enough especially if the housing allowance, car allowance and insurance are covered. however, i do suggest that if u have kids, u can negotiate for the company to cover the school tuition fees as well. qatar schools are quite expensive compared to other countries. the offered salary is enough but it aslo depends on how you use it or what kind of lifestyle you have. if you're a party-goer and/or used to buying a lot off stuffs then 5000USD is not enough. but if you're a "save-first, family-first" type of person then go for it. welcome to doha...let me know when you arrive :-)
