What you need to know about your Residency Permit Card
The social media platforms of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) disclosed certain important information regarding the new residency permit card.
The new Residence Permit Card is a proof of identity of an expatriate resident and his valid residency in the country.
Thus, according to MoI, the card should be carried by the resident at all times and should be produced whenever concerned authorities ask for it, especially while leaving the country and coming back to the country.
In case, if a resident misplaces his RP card when returning to Qatar from another country, or fails to carry it while entering the country, the following procedures will be followed -
1. If the resident doesn’t exceed the permitted limit of six months stay outside Qatar, he will be allowed to enter the country with a return visa issued directly at the port of entry without resorting to employer.
Also, his Residence Card will be marked as lost in the immigration system.
2. If the resident has exceeded six months stay, he will be required to get a return visa processed by his employer/sponsor to enter the country.
Also, the resident shall sign an undertaking not to repeat it and his Residence Card will be marked as lost in the immigration system.
If the resident doesn’t get a return visa processed by his sponsor/employer, he will be referred to concerned authorities for violating Residence Law No. 4/2009, and accordingly legal measures will be taken.
However, all residents who travel abroad should have a valid passport and validity of his residence permit should not be expired.
The MoI further reminds all residents on the importance of keeping their Residence Card and Passport especially while entering and exiting the country.

Passport number printed on new RP is faded, and it is not clear now.
whether it will be an issue while travelling to home country and on return?
Or it would be better to replace before travelling.
If replacement is possible for above reason (passport number not clear), what is the procedure?
Appreciate your assist
What happens if a family member holding a RP goes home and does not return or will not return allowing the visa to expire. Is that okay? Will the sponsor such as the husband face any issues as the QID will be with the family member?
Uno - your fiancée can come in on a tourist visa purchased at immigration on the way through the airport. This lasts 30 days, and then can be extended a further 30 days for 100QR at the airport when she's here.
If you are referring to a 'family visit visa' then this you can only apply for once you have your RP. Though I'm not sure on the fiancée bit, I needed an attested marriage certificate. If no good, then get a tourist visa, extend, fly out for a day and come back in on a new tourist visa, extend... rinse and repeat.
Airport other than Qatar doesn't allow to travel if you don't have Original QID. (Lost/ Damage whatever)
for an expat it takes a week to 3 months for the ID to be processed based on the company's and PRo's interest in speeding up the process.
A tourist visa is applied by hotels and other hospitality companies and not applied by individuals. you will have to approach any travel agency or hotels who does tourist visas which is valid only for a month.
Hi,
I would like to ask how long does it take for an expat to get his local id in Doha? and can he apply for a tourist visa for his fiance? how long can the fiance stay in Qatar?
Thanks! Reply will be greatly appreciated.
Questions and queries will definitely pour because not everyone are constantly watching, waiting and dedicates their whole day and life following, every new post here in QL just to look smart.
And besides it is one of the reasons why QL is made, to provide and support maybe not exactly accurate but helpful information to all the people.
Intiendes Amigos! Cheers.
I read somewhere it could be up to 10,000QR if you fail to produce your card when asked (as long as you have one that is).
Excellent... I'll just wait for the questions to begin
