Road-side parking in Qatar not safe anymore
We have lately read many posts on the sudden rise in the population and this causing a rise in the traffic and number of cars on the road.
But off late this has seen its worst state.
In Qatar, many apartments are shared by people. A lucky few get to park their cars in the allotted car parks of the house.
But, its a plight to many when they have to park their cars either on the footpath or on the road side parking that is close to one's residence.
This is a visual which has now become wide spread.
But, this practice isn't very safe either. Recently, I happened to see something very unusual.
A shared rented apartment always has dozens of cars all around it. Some parked on the footpath and some on the road side parking.
While I was away doing the normal chores of the house, I heard a loud bang in the vicinity. I ran outside wondering what had happened.
To my surprise, I saw that a black Mitsubishi had hit a maroon Nissan. What was surprising is that this Maroon Nissan was Parked!
The impact was so strong that it was pushed about 2 – 3 feet forward and had jammed into a Land Cruiser parked in front of it.
All the neighbours who came out rushing were surprised at the sight. They wondered as to how could a parked car end up in an accident?
The lady who the car belonged to was baffled. She sat on the steps of her house wondering what had happened to her dear possession.
After enquiry, we found out that the young college-going student who had to take a turning in front of that house, was in full speed, didn't have grip on the brake and had lost control. He instead happened to turn the steering to the left and banged into the car.
He himself had no idea as to what had happened. His car landed on the footpath and steps outside the gates of the house. One of the tires had hit the parapet that had been constructed in front of a huge palm tree.
His car had less damage on the front with a punctured tyre, but the lady's car was a sight to see.
The Land Cruiser was unharmed though with just a few scratches, but this bang had not only destroyed the back of the Nissan but also the complete front portion along with punctured tyres. The police was sure that this car would be cancelled.
Well, the loss is best known to the bearer. After all, most of us save up our hard-earned money and invest it into something big like a house, car, jewellery etc.
And if we happen to come across such circumstances where we are at no fault but have to bear the loss instead then one does get highly upset.
Have you experienced something similar? Do you have any suggestions? Let us know in the comments below.
I faced a similar situation .. my parked car was hit by another car .. but he (The guy who had hit) sat there till I came back and had wrote his number on my car .. till date I don't know how it happened .. as he knew only Arabic and me only English.
thats very sad, I might be wrong but as far as I know his insurance will pay her a little less than how much the nissan was worth before the accident, I assume the altima price was QR 25000 so the insurance will pay her around Qr 15000.
wont the Mitsubishi's Third Party cover the loss? Since it is his fault?
