It is finally 2022 and you know what that means for all football fans everywhere. The FIFA World Cup 2022 is all set to take place this year from November 21–December 18 in eight state-of-the-art stadiums in Qatar. Given the frenzy around the game, there is a rush to grab the tickets as soon as the sale goes live so that fans can plan months beforehand on attending the World Cup matches.

We have simplified the ticketing process so it is easier to understand, especially if you are new to football and wish to attend the matches. Here’s all you need to know about the ticket sale.

Sale Phases

There are three ticket sale phases for the World Cup: Sale Phase (1), Sale Phase (2), and Last-Minute Sales Phase.

Sale Phase (1) begins before the Final Draw on January 19, 2022, at 11 pm (Doha time), and will end on February 8, 2022, at 11 pm. The tickets are sold in a Random Selection Draw sales period and a first-come-first-served sales period. Tickets allotment will be intimated to fan by March 8, 2022.

Sale Phase (2) is also sold in a Random Selection Draw sales period and a first-come-first-serve sales period. This phase will begin after the Final Draw post-April, and the exact dates will be soon announced.

The Last Minute Sales Phase only has a first-come-first-serve basis for allocating the tickets.

Rules for Random Selection Draw sales

During both the (1) and (2) sales phase, the Random Selection Draw sales will take places as follows:

1. Ticket applications are accepted until the end of the respective Sales Phase.
2. Tickets are allotted based on a random draw for each category.
3. Date of submission of ticket applications is not given preference as it is a random draw.
4. Applicants may be successful, partially successful, or unsuccessful in securing a ticket and will be notified of their outcome via email.
5. Successful and partially successful applicants will receive an email with further instructions on steps to follow, payment of ticket fare, and the deadline for doing so.

Rules for First-Come-First-Serve and Last Minute sales

The First-Come-First-Serve sales period for both the (1) and (2) sales phase, and the Last Minute Sales Phase will take places as follows:

1. Ticket applications are accepted throughout the respective sale period.
2. Earlier ticket submissions have a better chance for success as the date and time of submission is given preference.
3. The ticket sales are recorded as real-time transactions and tickets are allotted directly to the applicants.
4. Successful applicants will immediately receive an email confirmation of their purchased tickets.

Ticket Categories

Once the respective Sales Phase goes live, the applicants can purchase tickets for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in four main categories:

• Category 1—highest priced seats and located in prime areas of the stadium
• Category 2 & 3—seats located outside the Category 1 area
• Category 4—seats that are the most affordably priced and are reserved exclusively for Qatar residents.

There’s an additional category of tickets allotted for all matches in each stadium. This is called the “Accessibility Tickets” by FIFA and are dedicated for purchase by disabled people and individuals with limited mobility.

Important notes:

1. Ticket category varies from match to match
2. Each category can include seats from either upper or lower tiers of the stadium (Please refer to the stadium seat category map for a general idea of where each Category might be seated).
3. Ticket category is not subject to any changes in conditions such as match day, weather, climate, etc.
4. The category boundaries differ from match to match to allow an optimum number of seat allocations to fans.

Ticket Types

During the Random Selection Draw sales period, three types of tickets will be available for the FIFA World Cup 2022 matches. These are:

• Individual match tickets (IMTs)—these are tickets for a specific match and are available for all matches and categories (1, 2, 3, and 4) including Accessibility tickets.
• Team Specific Ticket Series (TSTs)—these are tickets to specific national teams’ matches of the fan’s choice where the fan can attend three, four, or seven (TST3, TST4, or TST7 respectively) matches of the FIFA World CupThese tickets include three group-stage matches, a round-of-16 match, a quarter final, semi-final, and the final—depending on which TST match series the fan has opted for.
• Four Stadium Ticket Series (FSTs)—these are tickets for those who wish to attend one match on a selected number of match days at four different stadiums of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Important:

1. An applicant can apply for up to six tickets per match and a maximum of 60 matches across the entire FIFA World Cup 2022 competition.
2. TSTs and FSTs tickets are available only for Category 1, 2, and 3 along with Accessibility Tickets.
3. Applicants may apply for a mixture of different Ticket series—TST, IMT, and FST subject to restrictions.
4. Applicants cannot apply for same-day matches during the First Sales phase; it is possible only after the Final Draw.

Ticket Prices

FIFA has released the actual prices (inclusive of taxes) for all the ticket series and categories in the Random Selection Draw period of Sales Phase (1). The ticket fares are sold to Qatar residents and international fans in Qatari Riyal (QR) currency only. Please refer the below tables for the price list:

Qatar residents will have to purchase their FIFA tickets exclusively through Visa cards as it is the preferred payment solution for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. International fans can purchase tickets through Visa and other payment cards too.

The official FIFA ticketing portal is the exclusive online ticket sales channel for all purchase of tickets by the public. To apply for tickets, applicants must create their own FIFA ticketing account with complete and accurate information.

A Hayya Card (Fan ID) is required for entry into the State of Qatar, to access stadiums (including a match ticket), and to enjoy free matchday travel alongside other benefits. More details on how to get your Fan ID made will be updated soon on the FIFA website.
