Bl**dy Qtel!!!

Qtel cut my pre-pay mobile service off, as they hadn't reconciled my qatari I.D with my mobile sim card. So the service was kindly cut off, really appreciated that as you can imagine.
This was three days ago. I went to the store early yesterday morning to give them a copy of the i.d card, they confirmed the service would be back on yesterday afternoon.
18 hours later - still no service, totally barred from calling or texting, and all i get is a message saying 'your service has been temporarily suspended please call 111'.
You call 111 (from a landline because those helpful Qtel people have barred the phone so you cannot even call THEM... retarded no???) and you're number '26 place in line' and i've held twice for over twenty minutes but still no joy. Sent them an email three days ago also, no reply.
This is a rant, but there is a question too - any clue as to when (if anyone has had a similar experience) the phone might actually be working again??
Thank you.

Update!

I went back again yesterday having had my phone cut off for a week.

Met a Tunisian lady called Samia who worked for Qtel and wanted to know how long my complaint had been lodged, asked me for names of people i'd dealt with, and I cannot thank her enough. Service was reactivated the same day and it just shows what can be done when someone actually cares about the customer.

Faith is restored once more!!! Wonderful lady indeed! ;o)

Took your advice - went to Qtel in Al Sadd. Queued for ten minutes, met with a man who just laughed at the complaint and then made a call in arabic, another fifteen minutes later (no doubt most of that call wasn't about my phone being reconnected - and more about what they fancy eating at iftar!!!) I get told 'someone will call me back - sit over there'.

A futher twenty minutes, this man 'kindly' tells me that the woman has not called back and they want to go home as the store is closing now.

I'm fasting - and desperately trying not to swear if i'm being honest.

Absolute morons!!!!

I will cut this off and actually, already have a vodafone personal number, and so far? Yes, they are a billion times better on customer service. I'm just disgusted in Qtel and the lazy, laughable, highly annoying and frankly retarded staff they have!

CHANGING the service provider is not always the answer. How are you sure that Vodafone will give you better service ? They might even be worse. Running GSM service is extremely extremely complex business, so you are bound to face problems one way or the other. Ask any mobile consumer around the world, you cannot expect trouble free service all the time.

Go to Qtel office in al sadd and politely tell them. Vodafone is better than Q-tel

customer service is not Qtel's forte! so better go in person to the Al Sadd office and try to explain the whole thing to someone their. I don't think it give you any joy, but give it a try. Or else get a Vodafone no.!!

I agree with most people here and I hope your listening... CANCEL QTEL AND GET VODAFONE INSTEAD!

UK - it wasn't my mistake! You can't register for the damned phone here without your Qatari I.D, so the fact they didn't do their job - is the reason they cut me off. Getting things right from the start - remains their responsibility. Not mine. As i said, retards!!!!

It is honestly like dealing with people who only handle phones made with two cups and a piece of string. ;o)

I will go to the main branch at Al Sadd today - thank you for the advice.

Doesn't change the fact that people working for Qtel in the shops in malls, are truly bone idle with no concept of customer service.

GodFather.

Get it right first time. Should have given them the right information first time around.

Qtel is very poor with customer service, especially over the phone. I was waiting on the phone one time over 45 minutes just to change a few channels on Mosiac TV.

this mere promises are made my the staffs sitting on the customer service that actually wanna get rid of you that time, later they forget their promises.

ALWAYS, make sure you talk to senior executives. They will be more supportive.

Just get into Qtel Al-Sadd branch & bash into the Manager's office with your complain. Iam sure, he will be in terror. :D

should you documents be alright & matching, ur card SHOULD be activated.

The fault is often of individuals who are burocratic and lethargic . These corrupt lazy people should be individually identified.

As an organization I would still prefer Q Tel.

Qtel are pretty bad when it comes to replying to phone calls and emails.

I recommend going into one of their stores and just hassling them until they get the service back on, tell them that you were promised it, and refuse to leave until they sort it for you.

If not, walk out and head to the nearest vodafone shop, but make sure to tell Qtel you are doing so ;)

hmm why dont u just go to the main branch in Al Saad rather than running to the small fries? dont see any further reason for you to try calling. calling them is of no use.
