Cheap as Chips

Well, I am not sure whether it's jet lag or what, but in my five days here I've been checking prices of about everything and I would say that everything is cheaper here than in New Zealand. The only exception is perhaps milk, and of course New Zealand apples!

Whiteware, electronics and computers are 20-50% cheaper here, food 10-80%, eating out 10-50% cheaper, etc.  And, I checked prices only in one mall.

Are my first impressions right? What do you think?

expected! no taxes over here AND the quality of the product is not the same as in New Zealand. Go to the market of the "center" and check the prices of the same consumables you buy in new zealand and you will be shocked ;)

I've never been to New Zealand, and I don't know what kind of places you looked at here in Qatar, but as compared with Europe, the U.S. and of course, most parts of Asia, it's well more expensive on most counts!Well, apart from fuel :)If you looked only at mall eateries that are mostly American fast food chains and other little outlets, sure, you won't spend too much on eating out. But for a nice meal, you definitely will! And have you looked at the rents? Doesn't matter if your company's paying for it, they're still atrocious!
