Answers;

1. Laptop prices range from a minimum amount of QR4000 and higher..buy Mac.

2. Appliances are somehow affordable depends on the brand name but you should only buy the most important like fridge, rice cooker,microwave..etc.

3. Accomodation depends on your choice and usually will ask for advance payment.

4. Visa I dunno about this, but I hear that it will not take days to get one here in Doha.

5. Inquire for a car loan in QNB or Commercial Bank.

6. You should wear suite if your company requires it, better consult your HR.

7. Bring money so that you can buy your basic necessities..

8. Don't ask the weather here..don't really like it.

I purchased a pair of S19 Jeans, 250 QAR, from Pull and Bear, Vilagio. This is the third similar pair (different shades of blue) I have purchased due to the design of the jean, fitting perfectly with my type of build. The last pair I purchased on the 13-12-2007. The first day I fitted them on and bent down, they tore. The tear was not on the seam, but next to it, which indicates a flaw in the fabric. When I returned them today, 17/12/2007, to the store, with the receipt, I was told they could not assist me and insinuated that I had sat on something that could have damaged the fabric. I have spent a considerable amount of money at this store over the last couple of months and am rather disappointed at the level of customer service, commitment and the prospect of future business they portrait. It’s as though they are doing you a great favour attending to you as a customer. Don’t they realize that should this comment affect one potential customer, they would forfeit more money than just exchanging this item for me, OR DONT THEY CARE?

So all I can advise is that you clarify any return policy this store has before making any purchase.

NB. My first choice would have been to speak to the stores top management, before posting this comment, as I believe any self respecting business man would have addressed this issue in a more professional manner. Unfortunately the only contact I had was with this, which I perceive a very junior and unprofessional store manager

how old is your kid? good schooling in Doha can be very expensive if the company dont cover it.

I feel the allowance's are ok, however, to some extent I agree with Qatarcat. It all depends on

1) House rents are stabilizing, if you want to live within the city - yes you need about Qrs12K - 25K for a compound, but for a flat 6.5K will be ok. Airport area is not as expensive. Depends where you will be working, also how old is your kid, if he is old enough to go to school, needs to be considered.

2) Vehicle - how long do you plan on working in Qatar, if you are going for a new or quality used vehicle you will be able to get a bank loan and pay installments on the vehicle. Fuel is cheap, so that compensates to some extent. Refering to some of the comments on these site, people think Qatar is a desert and think that a 4x4 is required to move around, not so, most of the road can be negotiated by a salon car. etc

There is no hard and fast answers, hope the above helps.

QR 6500 housing is a bit too thin with the prices in Doha. Maybe you could talk your employer in providing accommodation instead. With QR 6500 the best you can get is a 2 bedroom semi furnished place, not in the best of areas.

School fees are insane also. If you consider sending your son to school you should inquire about school fees allowance.

A new 4x4 will cost around QR 100K. The good ones are around QR150K and up, and lower end is QR 90K - 110K.

Yes Angelo,

I have a salary of 15 000 QR/month + 6500 QR/month for housing allowance + 1500 QR/month for car rent + medical insurance.

I have a one-way ticket for me and my dependents (wife and son)from London to Doha

A settling-in allowance of 2000 €

A one Economy Class return air ticket for me and my dependent each year between Doha and London for each complete year spend in full time employment with the Employee.

What do you think about this offer.

Thanks

Do you think that a salary of 15 000 QR/month + 6500 QR/month for housing allowance + 1500 QR/month for car rent will be enough for a couple plus 1 children to live in DOHA.

How much does cost a 4x4 new car in Doha

Thanks

1. Laptops price range varies between QR5,000 (~$1,370) up to QR10,000 (~$2,739).

2. I don't understand what you're trying to say, sorry.

3. Finding a suitable apartment is usually a hard work, a good one should cost you around QR7,500 (~$2,100) per month.

4. No idea.

5. You can always get a car loan from any bank (I recommend QNB). Hint: The new Peugeot 206 CC red/black leather interior costs QR65,000 (~$17,800).

6. Yes, of course.

7. Well, the more money, the more joy.

8. Currently, it's cold here, so wear something worm. And all famous clothes brand names are here, (e.g. Springfield, FCUK, Mango, Zara, D&G, Pull and Bear...)
