Early termination of contract

Hey guys. Its me asking for help again. I know there has been a number of similar questions on here before but I couldn't get a clear answer from them. I have been offered a 2-year contract in Aspetar hospital. My question is - if things go really bad for me there and I really want to leave is there a way to terminate the contract earlier and go home? What are the consequences of doing this? I heard that many people who do this are denied the right to leave the country and are forced to stay untill the end of the contract duration period. Is that true?
Thanks heaps for responding

If you are not interested to continue there, you can leave. Nobody can stop you. But if you want to work some other place in Qatar, you have to obtain a NOC from the employer. The employer have full right to accept/deny your request for the NOC.

Working in a company is totally depends upon you, if u r not interested to work with the company, no one can stop U. the main thing is whether the Employer will give NOC or not. If the Employer is not giving the NOC u will be banned up to two years after ur Visa Cancellation. If u r really not interested to work, u meet ur HR and tell some reasons to quit the job. in Qatar no one can force u to work. if any body is forcing u to work u can approach Labour Dept which is in Industrial Area & C Ring Road. they will solve the issue with in a month. dont worry my friend, Labour Dept allways favours Employee. all d best

Travieso: the contract you are being given/offered should have some sort of clause in which termination of contract is covered and what are the pros/cons of such decision.

It is said as per Qatar labour law (QLL) that you are "entitled" at least to cover 1 year full contract before changing job/sponsor so if you decide to quit before that time the company/sponsor could ask you to cover the whole 1 year.

Also consider the fact of the company giving NOC at the time of resignation/termination of contract on either side (employer/employee) otherwise you can not stay in the country and will have to leave to home country and will be banned for 2 years from re entry Qatar.

Even though recently there was a decision in which no company/no sponsor can take the employee passport and hold to it still some people do it. (maybe there is need to reinforce the applicability of the law)

On the other hand I would suggest to you to read the QLL to understand a little bit more of what are actually your rights/duties while in Qatar. And remember the english translation of the QLL is just a reference since the legal/valid document for any dispute is the one in arabic.
