How to get the road permit renewed

1. You can choose to go to inspection on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday around 3:00pm as other days might be a little crowded. They are open until 5:30pm as far as I know.

2. Go for technical inspection on street # 23 industrial area.

3. First, get a number at the gate.

4. Go inside the office, wait for your number to come up. Next, deposit the fee (75 QAR). Take the paper they give and leave it in the car window.

5. Get in line and wait until your turn comes.

6. Once it is over, your number will show on the screen. Look at the paper to see whether you passed or failed.

7. If you failed, find somewhere to fix the problems. If your extinguisher is expired, you can buy it there at the inspection place. Just ask the officer. They will tel you if it is expired. If you passed follow these guidleines.

8. Once technical inspection is OK, get stamp from police officer outside on the inspection result paper. Now, the most difficult part is OK. Make sure your car is clean, especially outside, before you go there. Otherwise, the officer outside may ask you to clean it before stamping the paper.

9. Go to insurance company and pay for insurance. It has to be the same company as your previous one.

10. Go to any traffic department, pay the fee and get the new Istimara....

(Tip for QIC Insurance: if you renew your insurance comprehensive you don't need to go to the other branch just go directly to the one near city center, but if you are renewing it third party they will send you to the other branch which is i think in the industrial area, so my advice renew it third party but insure the passengers then you don't have to go to industrial area.)

5. Go to traffic department, pay the fee and renew Istimara....

would be better to get it done before you leave the country.. Advance renewal is ok.. Just make sure you do the technical test/inspection.. (should you fail with the inspection, have it repaired then subject it to re-inspection.) Once you passed it, go to traffic dept. and renewed it.. (You have to settle all the fines first before can have it renewed.) Time wise, I strongly recommends you do it in advance... Good luck to you..

can get it done in advance or 6 weeks late without penalty. Go to street 23 (?) in industrial area for test, it is well signposted.
