Oh my God,

You dont have any proof of address with you? How you are going to change your address without that? You should have a proof of the address change. Please check the requirements which I mentioned in my earlier post.

Thanks all of u.

Actually i need a new address proof to be submitted for some other work for which i dont have neither pan card or passport. I dunno how to apply for pancard from here.

Also kindly advice whether there will be no issue to wait for another 2 years till expiry date and then i can submit for both change of new address and renewal?

Fundamental question is : WHY do you want to change address, when the same can be clubed with renewal in 2 yrs.

Address at passport bears no big significance provided you have some other address-proof documents like PAN card etc for routine requirements. I'm sharing my experinece!

Preethu, I explained it very clearly but it seems you did not read my post properly.

1. You cannot renew your passport now as the expiry is in January 2012.

2. They will just change the address in your existing PP and no new Passport will be issued. Is your PP in the old format (handwritten) or in the new format (Computerized)?

3. As your PP is issued in India it might take few extra days as there are verifications now a days while you are making changes in your Passport(Pls check this with the Embassy and I am not sure of it).

(If our Passport is issued by the Embassy of Qatar and if we are changing some entries in the Passport Offices in India it will take a lot of time as they will check with the Embassy here to verify)

Dear friend,

The passport renewal and change of address is simple.

For change in address in passport a new passport is issued for 10 years from the date of application.

The requirements are as follows:

1. Duly filled up application with the enclosures.( download from teh indian embassy website)

2. Old passoort.

3. Change of address proof- If another language other than english- translation duly attested.

4. 2x2 photo with white background- 2 nos.

5. copy of your ID.

There will be a lot of rush in Indian embassy and you have to wait for four hours to complete the formalitites.

it is better give it to Indian culture centre who charges 10/- riyals as service fee. No PCC is required.

It will take 6 working days to get the new passport back.

ICC is a part of indian embassy and there is no problems. and you way vist the offfice in the evenings also as suggested by one of the freinds.

Any change of address or anything they will issue new passort for one year. ( sometimes if the embassy cannot retrace yr original documents in India they will issue for one year and after 60 days it will be revalidated for another 9 years)

Not too sure about the time frame (Usually not more than 5 days for most cases). I believe they do not extend the expiry date unless its 2-3 months before expiry. But always best to confirm with them. Try calling them or ask them if its possible when your submitting for the address change.

Hi dear, since your pp has 2 more years to expire, they are unlikely to extend it now.

Hi,

I think this is a very simple process. Please take your original passport , fill up the form, submit at the Indian Embassy with the correct fees. probably you will get it back in a week time. Please visit Indian Embassy website for futher details. If you have any problem accessing web site, please visit the embassy enquiry counter and they will guide you. Cheers

You will not be allowed to renew your Passport which is expiring after 2 years.

I dont think you have to change anything in the PCC as it was issued as per your address given at the time of issuance. PCC is normally valid for 6 months and if you are not using it within the validity period you should get another one and that one will be with your new address if you are changing the address now. Where is the place of your Passport? I think if it is issued in India then there will be a verification if you are changing the address.

If you can go in the morning, you can go to the Indian Embassy and get it done. There is also an agency that gets it done for the people in the evening at Indian Cultural Center for slightly extra fees (5-10 Riyals something). I believe they are open from 4 to 8 p.m and take 4-5 working days to get it done. No police clearance certificate required for renewing passport unless some unusual circumstance. Just a new photograph with white background, fill the form pay the fees and leave the passport with them.
