Labor law questions
if I am hurt/injured/killed while at work is my employer liable under Qatar law if they were negligent? If they were negligent, what happens to those supervisors/managers while an investigation is carried out?
Same question, but for accomodation. The employer dictates where employees live and the conditions in that accomodation. If there were a fire or other accident, an assault or other attack and if the employer was aware of the possibility or weaknesses (lack of security for example or non working fire extinguishers) - what happens to those supervisors/managers who knew of these lacks while an investigation is going on?
What are the ways an injured employee could claim compensation for hurts?
Any specific refers to the Qatar labor law are appreciated?
I have not seen anything specifically written for the situations you mentioned. But I am sure, the Occupiers liability principle or the Law of Tort applies everywhere. I am sure the Qatari COurts are based on Equity and Islamic Law. Under the Law, they owe you a duty of care.Clarify with a local lawyer. Google it you will find something.
Under my contract of employment I am covered for all the events covered in LAbour Law which includes such possibilities.
So I guess you are covered. Double check.
As a matter of fact I have. But it doesn't specifically address the culpability of supervisors/managers aware of negligence but who fail to act.
In other GCC countries, if there is an accident/incident in the workplace or accomodation, the supervisor/manager can be arrested and jailed until the police sort the matter out. Is that what happens in Qatar?
Bother to read the Labor Law of Qatar?
