Hello,

I am considering taking up a job with the doha 2006 games org and would like to enquire as to expectations life etc. I am a single 29 yo male (standard ex army type bloke no major hangups) and was wandering about living conditions, need for car or the possibility to purchase motorcycle, possibility of sharing accommodation with others, costs of living for a single bloke, ability to have a beer every now and then, ability to go out to a pub/club with others for that beer and organised sport (rugby, football etc). Any help on the company and genera living would be much appreciated. I'm coming from uk tho origins are polish and australian :)
thanks!

Victoria, when you arrived in Doha try to get Marhaba book. In there you will find stack of list house agents and apartment list for rent.

Qatar is very open, you can dress anything. Just not show too much flesh, otherwise you might not be comfortable with men staring at u. I normally go out in the car with short sleeves and jeans with knee length.

I am Indonesian with English hubby living in Doha for nearly 5 years. If you need anything just let me know. My e-mail [email protected]

Good luck with your new adventure in Doha.

xx

If you let me have your e-mail I can send you the direct e-mail address of the Director of Protocol & Relations. It may be quicker if you contact him directly. He is approachable. (Not sure if you can get my address from this site)

Bravo!! I Betta get some tips!!!

Good to hear that you have been working in SQ. I would love to have suggestions from you. After all you are also a potential customer of Asian Game and by the end of the day "Quality is all about Customers" isnt it??

At the moment the biggest problem that i am facing is that I will be alone there... thats what I hate i.e To Be On My Own... I hope i will get some ports here to grow my network.lol..

Cheerz..

Aly I am not working in Games?

I have worked as SQ Engineer and did one project when I was in california. We used silktest. They were using automated scripts for testing. I suggested that we create a framework. So I end up developing a testing framework that was used over the whole suit of web apps without minimum alteration :-)..

Hmmmm that was the only project I did in testing but mainly I am j2ee software engineer and SAP consultant...

JBravo69...Good to hear from you...

Yes you are 100% right about software quality... atleast there is somebody who knows about it( I beg your pardon SkyBlue). We will be using TestDirector. Its a new one and off course good too.

In what capacity you in GAMES?

I would suggest that you keep these kinds of comments to yourself. If you think you are funny, you are wrong. If you think these comments are valuable, you are also wrong.

This is not a trolling site.

Ambiguity...

Androgenous name...

Not to mention the oxymoron of "software quality"...

Off you go to learn English/interpersonal skills/Use of CAPITALS...

Hi Jen,

There are some nice areas which are close to the centre of Doha such as AlSadd, AlMansourah, AlMuntazah, AlMamourah ... etc

At the moment I am dealing with some of the new europeans who joind the doha Asian Games.

I have few different villas in different places and they are in the range of 11,500 to 14,000 QR but in March I may have other villas.

Sorry I don't have a website at the moment but planning to have one soon hopefully and by the way most of those real estate companies website are not updated regulary.

We will have the time to find you something nice once you arrive to Qatar.

Kind regards,

Ayman

Hi Ayman,

Will be moving over mid feb and looking for accomodation beginning of march. Hope fully will be joining up with 2 or 3 others and looking at villas.

Will note your number and username etc.

Can you tell me which are the better areas of town to live in both costs wise and distance from centre of doha?

Do you have a website at all?

Thanks

Hey tomme,

I have just accepted a job with the Asian Games and am moving out there on 18th Feb.

What job have you been offered? Am going to be working in the venues dept as a team leader.

Where about in the uk are you from?

Info i have found out is it will cost approx 1/4 of your salary for accomodation i`ve looked at a few websites and most if you are sharing are approx £500 - £700 per month each. Depends on what accomodation you want. Look at www.zukhrof.com or www.homes2rent.biz they may give you an idea of accomodation avaliable. I have no idea of to where many of the areas in Doha are.

Alcohol one of the first questions i asked can be brought you do need a licence though! HR should help you with that i`ve been told.

Also on Club front been looking at doha rugby club website. Not that i play just for social reasons. Family have always been into rugby and social scene has always been good. www.doharugbyfc.com.

i am looking forward to moving out there and experiencing the different ways of life! Hope this has helped.

Jen
