living in qatar is also the same as living in Phils esp in Manila. u also need to worry about ur own bills,if ur living on ur own.meaning if u don't live on the accomodation provided by the company.if u live on ur own, u will pay for everything & u need to stick on ur budget for the electricity(but dnt worry too much bout the electricity bec its not costly here in qatar)..water(faucet&drinking water) of course your food will come from ur own wallet tho some company also provide food allowances.with regards to the cost of living, if u work in the office as Engr, Secretary & Admin Staff, ur budget will not be as tight since employees in these line of work are well-payed.But if ur line is at Sales & some other laboreous jobs, chances are, u will really have to learn on how to tighten ur belt so that u will have enough remittance to send to ur family monthly.U'v got no one but GOD!

1.Food - 500 QAR/month2.Miscellaneous(deodorant,soap, etc.) - 80-100/month3.Laptop - 1,500-3,000 QAR(it depends on brand/specs)4.Phone - 1,000-3,000 QAR(it depends on brand)These estimates are on 6,000-9,000(all inclusive) QAR Salary range. It will depend on your lifestyle also. And do not convert the prices into peso(as others have said) you will go crazy I swear, you'll end up not buying anything. Your first month here spend as much as you can on your necessities even on things that you only want, from there you will learn how to budget your expenses and calculate your savings.... Shot! na :)

it seems like you're up to spending more than saving. people come here to save buddy. inflation here steeps very rapidly so better look forward on saving rather than spending. if you want cheap goods, go to china instead.

Well if your salary is less than 2000 QR better to stay at the phillipines. same salary no missing for your love one's family etc. But if you are a business minded well. Qatar is good for you you can earn a lot of money by working at the same time make a partime side line like posting some item you want to sell. anyway good luck and welcome to Qatar.

just a piece of advise.. we came here to earn & save for our family. its up to you on what you'll do with your money. just be careful on how you spend. we dont know what will come along the way or what/who we are for the coming years. better save in bank &/or invest something in stock market or acquire some income generating assets rather than things that give you temporary satisfaction that depreciates afterwards. Just my 2 cents.. Welcome to doha soon kabayan^_^

..since you are definitely coming to Qatar, your intention on getting more idea on the cost of basic goods/necessities is the right step on planning your budget once you reach Qatar. However, I think you should focus more on how much your savings should be after 1 year, after 2 yrs, so on and so forth..instead of looking to buy electronic items/gadgets.

my humble opinion.

Dont worry about the food here, as long as your salary is good and as long as your budget for your food is reasonable, then you can cook whatever you want. and like what i've said as long as your salary in Qatar Riyals is good you can survive here in qatar and you can buy whatever gadget you want. But before you think about that, you should think first about the kind of work you will be having here and the kind of accomodation you will be staying at, and the kind of people you will be working with. Anyway you apply to work here, so you should be prepared on everything once you arrived here. Good Luck and Welcome to Qatar!

Different strokes for different folks :)It all depends on your preferences, like for rice. We usually have Jasmin rice which is a bit costly as compared to other types. Get the gist?Just an unsolicited advise, never compare cost of living in Pinas versus here in Doha.  You'll earning & spending QAR dude! The main consideration in budgeting your monthy income is your monthly padala back home ;) Goodluck
