Rent declines in Qatar!!!Are we aware?

Everyone knows that economic recession has affected adversely the whole world. A curse that turned to be a blessing for the whole expat community in middle east atleast.

Rent has started coming down drastically. yesterday Barwas chief openly said it. In UAE, almost 11% downfall on rent occured in a very short period. And forecasts say , further downward trend will be there for atleast one year.

In Qatar also, the same trend has been started. The real estate agents who have signed agreements with local owners for a long time, like 3 years ,5 years etc. are in deep trouble as they are not able to get back the amounts from tenants.
My intention on beginning such a topic here is to make all the expats aware the change of situation.

Dont fall in the traps of the real estate agents.
Bargain/negotiate as much as possible. scenario is changed.Agents will come in your way. they have to survive
Dont believe the prices shown in the newspapers/ websites. All are inflated. Yes it is true, ones we had to pay that much rent.
Wait as much time as possible and search religiously. You will get houses with less rent
Please pass this message to all

Yes that's true, yesterday my friend got an excellent 2 bed room apartment, in a very nice building with covered parking, very nice from inside in just 5000 QAR. 4 - 5 months ago such apartments were going on 7000 - 9000 QAR.

I wont be surprised if the same fall to 3 - 4 K QAR.

yes and may i add when your current contract is over, if your landlord tries to increase or keep same - MOVE . Better rates are to be had. Too many individuals have been forced to pay so exhorbitant rates.
