Spending depends on your nationality?

Could you please tell me why your spending depends on your nationality. As someone, in a previous question answered someone else who was wondering if his salary will be enough, and the comment was (this is a good job offer especially if you are not a Western / European National)
I think this can be justified but only to a certain extent.

Very informative and helpful comments. Many thanks to all of you.

I will be in Doha at the beginning of January and I will always remember every comment I read on this website and consider, most of them as guidance in my daily routine.

With regards,

ls

you have taken the quote out of context... it is just suggesting that you should accept the offer coz it is a good offer for a non-Westerner. salary bracketing here differs between the 3rd world countries, developed countries and the locals.

spending habit should depend on your earnings and not on your nationality. spending lavishly and more than what you earn can put you in huge debts in the future so spend wisely.

I think you got fair IDEA from our friend LosinDoha.

I will add another thing. westeners will get high food allowance, housing, car and etc.. so they can spend more and they always save their basic salary. some comapnies believe quality of the education better than asian countries that also taken in to the consideration.

Spending is not based on the nationality of a person. It just happens that most Europeans, Americans or British people in Qatar are having better and higher positions in companies, and thus they also have much bigger salaries than the common worker. Hence, the more money you have, the more you spend.

"spending depends on your nationality"? huh? spending depends on the lifestyle that you are living.. or also may depend on your capacity to spend.. but, there i agree with the thing you mentioned about the salary range.. because there is really a salary bracket in all industry.. because here in the middle east if you're a westerner/ european, you'll get much more than people coming from asian subcontinents. or far east, south asians.. why? there are some valid reasons... one thing is your country's cost of living, if you are westerner/euro engineer, you wont accept a salary of 3000 dollars, because that's not the market of engineers in your country.. but for asians, 3000dollars salary here is quite good, considering in your counry engineers can only earn an average of 300-1000dollars.. that's why more people are trying to migrate to euro countries, after getting the citizenship, they comeback here in the middle east because they will earn much more.. but im only talking about a great majority of companies here in the middle east not necessarily all..

but also, capability for the post is also a factor for you to get high salary.. but again subject to a bracket or salary structure of your company..
