When I went to school, it was normal to think of Russians as horrible Communists who were planning to invade Europe, take away our freedom and start World War Three. I have now been happily married to a lovely Russian lady for twelve years.

When my wife and I lived in Kenya, we were very impressed by the vitality, joy, friendliness, patience, honesty and good humour of nearly all of the ordinary Kenyans we met. What a contrast it was to go back to England and meet cold, boring, selfish, xenophobic, workaholic Brits!

On the subject of Qatar and racist Qataris, all I can say is that people in glass houses should not throw stones. Are the thousands of Poles currently flooding into the U.K. being welcomed with kindness and friendliness? I doubt it.
