Unfortunately it is your fault. The rules here on the roundabout are:
left or inner lane: to make a U-turn, turn left or go straight
middle lane: to go straight only
right or outer lane: to go straight or make a right turn
If you are on the middle lane and wanted to make a left turn you should give way to the one on the inner lane who wants to go straight because you are on the wrong lane.
This is why the driving instructor always reminds (and this is part of driving test) be on the correct lane before approaching the roundabout.
