Here are a few tips for IELTS.

.) Writing-1st) - paragraph structure 2nd.) Grammar structure (If you are talking in the past –past tense verbs) (articles are often missed or confused, focus study) - spelling and lack of vocabulary will hurt you but showing you understand the foundation helps boost scores. Also, focus your discussion to the topic. Don’t just write stuff for word count
.) Listening- read questions beforehand- underline key words to listen for during the audio- good for listening for specific information- for overall comprehension- practice note-taking skills( writing down main points –key information), then practice it without writing (mental note-taking)
.) Reading- read questions first- when practicing- look at the question- what is it asking you to answer/ understand/read for? During the reading (Note) - main theme/topic- what arguments/facts has the author introduced- What conclusion/ suggestions has the author introduced? How has he/she come to this conclusion?
.) Speaking- biggest thing here is to be able to expand on a topic. If your examiner asked you ‘Is pollution an issue in Qatar?’ Yes-more! How? Why? –Examples?- Suggestions to make it better (critic analysis- thinking)- Read the newspaper, watch the news, be able to express opinions using referencing on world issues and current affairs..
