but it never hurts to over emphasize the magnitude of these storms since some people are stupid enough to attempt to ride them out despite mandatory evacuation orders!!
The storm surge was 15 feet and it was a cat 3 when it hit land...my hubby and son are fine...they got 3 inches of rain and the city where we live has no electricity but our farm still did!!
It always makes me mad to hear of those idiots that ride out a storm just because they think they are tough...or they've done it before. It not only puts them in danger, moreso it puts the rescuers in MORE danger...Now the rescuers have to go in search of these morons and spend time and money, where it could have been spent much more efficiently, as in bringing in electric companies to repair the services all over the state. GEEZ...Ok...I do understand that when the evacuation route is jammed with cars that it can be worse than the hurricane itself because you are out in the open but in that case evacuate EARLY!!!! Have a bit of forethought!
I feel for those that lost loved ones or their homes in this storm...some of them couldn't evacuate and to those, I say, bless you...and thank goodness for those lovely people who do the house to house searches for people and animals left behind...I'm sure there is a special place in Heaven for you all!
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.
