i know this indian family here in qatar who had put up a portion of their flat up for sharing accomodation.but they hadn't put this 'only..' factor in the ad.a srilankan couple moved in with them.and oh...did i forget to mention that the family i'm talking about are strict vegetarians?so the lankan couple moves in and the contract read that they'd have to share the kitchen.

the lady of the indian family almost went crazy when she saw the young wife of her tenant frying fish in her kitchen.her home which once smelt of spices and curries was now smelling of delicious fried king fish!she didn't say anything to the girl for fear of hurting her.the indian lady discussed the matter with her husband and he said that fish is an essential part of every sri lankan's daily diet and that they could not possibly tell them not to cook fish.

the indian lady could not accept the entire idea and stopped going to the kitchen when the other lady was around.she'd do funny things like burning incense in the kitchen after the other lady had left....to ward of any smells.by and by,the sri lankan couple felt uncomfortable themselves and after an uncomfortable stay of 9 months, they moved out.

that's the way it goes.....we all have our own cultures and living styles.no matter how independently we stay, when we have a sharing accomodation,at least occasional rendezvous is bound to happen.so,for the sake of comfortability,it's best to live around people whose culture matches with yours.

and about mingling with other nationalities.....there are so many ways to do that other than staying under the same roof........

Keep smiling!
