Went shopping on Amazon for the EVGA X58 motherboard and found this:
- 299.99$ Sold by Amazon.com ................free shipping (Lifetime Warranty)
- 299.99$ Sold by TD through Amazon + 11.14$ shipping (Lifetime Warranty)
- 269.99$ Sold by TD through Amazon + 11.14$ shipping (2 years Warranty)
Common sense would tell that Amazon has the best offer, cause I have to pay this stupid NY sales tax for each board...
Wrong!
Being curious, I added the board sold by TD to my Amazon cart and went through the payment process up to the final checkout, and discovered that items sold by TD are not subject to sales taxes in NY,simply because TD has warehouses in this state.
This fact is true for other Amazon storefronts like ANTonline,...
At the end,I purchased the board with limited warranty and gained almost 50$.
(I don't think I will keep it for more than 2 years...)
Next time I will not get lured by Amazon 2 days free shipping, and will double check other sellers offers prior to final purchase.
While shopping on Amazon, always have a look on the right upper corner ,"more buying choices" section just below the "Add to cart" button.
Amazon is still a convenient way to shop IT stuff for us gulf residents as our CC's are generally accepted.
I know this is far away from the transistor invention, but it's not so obvious.
Hope it will help some of us.
How to by-pass NY sales tax?
