irf77, I have asked to read Jesus’s post a few times, not just read, but understand.

There is one thing which you guys keep on missing and that is to understand what MBA is. Jesus posed some questions as to why you want do an MBA.. why MBA? I don’t think you spent anytime thinking about it.

I hate repeating myself but for the benefit of people I do. MBA is a management and leadership course where you learn from your MBA experience. You learn from your professors, your fellow students and all around you in the university. MBA is not designed to make you a specialist in any area. Yet, the objective of MBA is to give you basic knowledge of wide verity of subject areas and develop your analytical, communication, leadership and managerial skills. All this is possible only when you sit in the classroom and interact with others and learn from it. This classroom environment will be your platform to develop your soft skills, which you will not otherwise. Just an example, do you think you can become a good orator by reading a thousand books on public speaking without rehearsing and actually doing it? Maybe you think ‘yes’, but the answer is ‘no’.

Understandably, full-time MBA is not an option for everyone. Do what better suits you. What about ACCA, CPA, CFA etc. One does not have to go anywhere to gain these premier qualifications. They are 10 times more recognized and respected than most of the MBAs.

How many of you have sat for GMAT? I may sound rude, but GMAT is a filter and if you do not score well in GMAT, you would not get into a good MBA. If it is just a degree that matters, there are diploma mills as well as accreditation mills. If it is about learning and obtaining a good qualification, there are many options available to the people living in Doha while working full-time.
