This is a joke. I'm a network specialist and I'm very pissed that I actually fell for their scam. QTEL, you can't do this to thousands of people!!! This is false advertising which runs for years and still they get people fall for it. When I saw the advertisement all over Doha, I myself decided to run and grab the first free USB modem. And guess what? I went to 2 Qtel shop and 1 Virgin shop, they didnt even have this plan on the system yet. But they already advertised them in Gulf Times. I had to wait for another month to actually get a plan. I was excited to get UP TO 21 MBPS unlimited download, which could be less than 21 Mbps, but at least it should reach more than 5mbps... but NOOOOOOO. I paid 320 for the 21 mpbs unlimited plan + 200 something for the initial costs.. and i didnt even use it for the first month!!! because it didnt work as its supposed to. called the network engineers, of course after being on hold on the phone for hours, and told me to try it after 24 hours of purchase, the next day i called again, they told me the same thing again, wait for the next 24 hours, so i gave up after two days.. went to the shop where i bought it, they told me go to starlink in my area and go check the speed. starlink tested and they said its very slow, so they replaced my USB modem. they didnt even call me after 3-4 days, i had to go back to starlink and follow up. they said they currently have 3000+ usb modems being fixed. wtf? anyways.. so i went home and tried it again. and you all know what the result is. nothing changed! went back to take it to the shop and filed a complaint. but i still have to keep the stupid USB till Qtel decide to call me regarding the complaint. as a conclusion, never trust qtel in their offers especially when its something to do with the internet speed. i can see that everyone is complaining bout the speed, but for sure its never gonna reach more than 5mbps.. i tried downloading a 6 GB file and it was only doing 4. something mega bytes per second. so thanks qtel im gonna be stuck with u till december! yuck.
