Qatar could not operate without the armies of labourers, nurses, shop-workers, admin staff, engineers, etc etc be they uneducated workers at the bottom of the ladder, or university educated professional people. Let's not kid ourselves that we are accepted here - I would say we're tolerated. Nothing more. And as for that old chestnut 'well if you don't like it, then leave' - I DO like it here, but I put up with a lot more cr*p than I would in my home country. It's an interesting experience living in such a different culture, but we will never be accepted as equals. Fact.
