Respect for others different from oneselves is sadly lacking.
Just because some people are desensitized to stepping over other people's religious or cutural sensitivities does not mean that this is right way forward for living in harmony.
In fact, it's rather a sign of arrogance and a superority complex that expects others to conform to one's view. There is a fine line between being confident in oneself, standing firm cf. being arrogant.
Not referring to anyone in particular, of course. Many here are capable of balanced objectivity and self reflection.
IMHO, the furore is justified. Art can be in other forms, not in a way that does not give proper reverence or respect.
