Hi everyone, new to this forum. Had an interview for a job in Doha the other day, but still in the UK right now.

It has calmed down a lot now. Still a huge police presence on the streets.

The whole thing started after police shot a man after he apparently drew a gun on them. After that it all kicked off, then there were copycat riots all over the country. 90% of them were teenagers born and bred in this country, not immigrants. The police were criticized for being to slow to react, then in parliament yesterday they were arguing about the budget cuts etc. The government claim they are needed so we don’t end up like some of the other countries around Europe are at the moment.

I do agree that some cuts need to be made, however they have cut police and military budgets but doubled foreign aid?! Doesn’t make sense!

The police in London have made over 1,000 arrests now. Still using CCTV to track down looters and have been raiding their homes day and night to catch as many of these scumbags as possible.

There were even youtube videos of known football hooligans patrolling their own streets to protect them! Apparently some fans in Birmingham caught some looters and gave them a good shoeing.

But as I said it is calming down now, hopefully I'll be leaving the UK soon anyway and get away from the constant doom and gloom I see in the news everyday!
