Maybe am a little late to post but given the fact that i too lived in abu dhabi for a while, then moved to qatar in 2008 towards the end of it, i'll just give u my personal opinion regarding this matter.
First, i don't see how u find abu dhabi desirable, i hated it immensly, it's a shitty city (no offence to anyone) but it was litteraly dirty the whole time no matter how much they cleaned it i found it to be dirty especially if u ever went to electra street where i worked near honda showroom or al khaldiya area where we lived for a while, all my friends lived in different places and i found each place worse than the one before it! i seriously wonder how u find abu dhabi particularly to be such a nice place with beautiful finishes we seem to be on different planets regarding this matter.
Coming to Doha, i found it immediatly to be an amazing place especially that i moved to beverly hills al rayyan, the whole place was great the finishes also are good... can't complain about stuff there loved it lived there for 2 years moved again to a new compound and also it's very nice and even better than beverly hills no noises, not so hot not so cold high ceilings... If u search u will find what u're looking for in Doha and with time u will like it and forget about AD.
Seriously life is very subjective and when u try to be happy u will find good things where u look around u!
I love it here i love bringing up my son here, i dread going back to abu dhabi and i'd probably never move back there (hopefully), when u're okay about leaving and start thinking positively u will get over some stuff u find shitty and see the beauty of Doha, Good luck
