Since posting this this see below my comments on the places to fish;
The Corniche
At the section that everyone fishes as mentioned, this is full of snags and you get snapped up a lot when fishing at distance, however there is a very small fish which can be caught on light tackle which when caught can be sold to local fish mongers for good money as it is a local delicacy so they tell me?
Al Wakra
The crabs are a pain in the butt, best use top feed rigs on very torque lines, but the results are poor.
Sea Line
Still to fish this but been told it is ok
There is a section of beach between the Intercon hotel and the royel villas which can be ok at high tide
The Pearl estary near to the The Diplomat Club
This section by the first bridge should be very good, given the location and long streches of water, but its not!
A lot of the locals sit here and socalise which is not too much of a hinderance.
There is also the long couseway point to the left hand side of the The Admiral Club by the Ritz Calton which so they say you are allowed to fish, but never fished it just used the pub!
Finally there is a section behind the Zig Zag tower A which by all accounts you can fish but also never tried it?
The option of using a boat and travelling out for a about 2 miles is really the only worthwhile option in my opinion.
