The 2000 till 2005 cherokees transmissions are reliables so do not worry my friend. You mentioned that your car is not shifting from one shift to the other.that means you still have as usual in this case only the first gear and the reverse.first do not drive your car for long distances and always keep the RPM lower than 2500.Did you had your car washed by high water pressure from down side after the gear oil change? if so get someone to check the 4 electrical power supply sockets connected to the sides of the transmission which will be full of water, had them air dryed and cleaned by a soft metal brush, connect them again and the transmission should work.If not aslo do the same get those sockets checked for a loose connection.By the way if the shifter cable is cut your gearbox will not be working at all and you'll not be able to move the gear stick to any position.AcDelco/Auto magic are good work shops at Matar main road or Bosch in Wakra. The one in Barwa village is good (The american garage) but he is not dealing with transmissions so ask him first.my advise to you when you visit any of these work shops try to be specific with them and tell them to check those sockets otherwise they will ask a huge amount of money as to rebuild the transmission(talking about 10000+QR) while a second hand one will cost you around 3 to 4000.but that will be in case of the worst scenario.Good luck my friend.
