Both are reliable Cars no doubt about it. they both have solid history of over 60 years....although by number of units being sold, the Land cruiser is top of the list always.

1) Land Cruiser A/C is more efficient than Patrol (when its 45C or more, u can feel the difference)
2) In addition to the rear roof A/C vent, the Land Cruiser has center console A/C Vent for the rear seating which Patrols don't.
3) Land Cruiser has a good re-sale value. Its like a cheque in your hand.
4) Maintenance Cost/Spare parts is cheaper compared to Patrols (Again there's a marginal difference in the Costs) My thinking is that if one can afford a land cruiser, he can also afford Nissan patrol. Patrols are slightly costly to maintain than the land cruiser. its not like the range rover where maintenance costs is exorbitantly high compared to the land cruiser

1) Nissan Patrol LE has the most powerful engine(400 HP) when compared to Lexus and Land Cruiser 5.7 L (approx. 363 Hp). Patrol LE has a better acceleration and power. You will definitely feel the adrenaline flow down your spine when u push the gas pedal. I am talking about the LE. (SE has almost same power as GXR)

2) Patrols are more comfortable to ride as they have more ground clearance and better suspension system.

3) Third row seating folds down into the base of the car so more space for luggage. in land cruiser they fold side ways so less luggage capacity. Mini Fridge can also be opened by the rear passengers where in land cruiser it can be only opened by the front seat occupiers.

4) Patrols have beasty look and are more sporty, elegant and stylish compared to Land Cruisers.

I would have suggested for 2016 Land cruiser but then the Engine capacity is the same 5.7 L with just extra gears being added up.

General Rule: refrain buying new models in its first year as there may be chances of product/part failure or manufacturer's recall for replacement etc. Better to buy new models starting the 2nd year as all issues might have been repaired or fixed by the manufacturer in its first year of launching.
